You can take the driver theory test at any one of the testcentres (pdf) located around the country. While the test is computer-based,it is designed to be user-friendly for people who have little experience ofusing computers. To pass the combined CD theory test, you have 140 minutes to correctlyanswer 104 out of 140 questions. To pass a truck (TMT) or bus (BMT) moduletheory test you have 45 minutes to answer 30 out of 40 questions correctly.

You must pass the driver theory test before applying for a first learner permit (formerly called a provisional licence). If your provisional licence or /learner permit expired 5 years ago, then you must pass the theory test again before a learner permit will be issued.
