If the software is currently installed on a computer and needs to be reimaged or the OS is upgraded, below are the steps to relicense without using up a new license (NOTE: This is just to reinstall during the same license cycle. A new license will still need to be purchased annually). These steps can also be used to activate an offline machine or a machine where the license activation server is unreachable.
Note: The license assigned to your account allows you to download Microsoft Office, install it on your machine, and activate it using your [email protected] account. It does not give access to Office.com online or cloud services like One Note and One Drive.
All Microsoft licenses for the software downloaded from the CUIT site are authorized every 90 days by the CUIT KMS server. For authorization, the devices must either be physically on campus or you must be logged in to the CUIT VPN.
There are certain policies in place for all licenses procured through CUIT and others that are specific to particular products. The general policies are categorized as follows:
CUIT provides these licenses as a service to the Columbia community. The licensees are responsible for installation, maintaining hardware and making sure the appropriate operating system is installed.
Yes, if the license will be used by the same person. Each license can be activated only on one computer. So, to use your license on another computer, you will first need to deactivate it on the computer fromwhich you will move the license
Site Licenses are agreements between a software manufacturer or vendor and the University to copy and distribute their software. Site licenses allow Washington State University to obtain the best possible price for these products. Each site license has its own terms and conditions. Some site licenses apply to University departments, faculty, staff and students as a whole. Others are limited to department-owned computers, or computers on the physical WSU campus. Typically, you are granted the right to use the product for a specified period of time. Almost all academic site license agreements require that the use of the software be university-related and prohibit use for commercial purposes. Documentation is usually purchased separately. Please be aware that in some cases you must agree to discontinue use of the software if the WSU department responsible for administering the contract does not renew, or if your association with the University ends.
There are two types of site licenses, universal and node. A universal license has no set limit on the number of users. A node license has a limited number of users. The company usually has established price breaks for volume purchases.
(Funded by Departmental Agreement)No Charge to Faculty and Staff on a WSU-Owned machine. The license must be used for educational, not commercial use. Please work with your in-house Systems Manager to get access
Yes, effective July 01, 2015, OriginPro software is available to currently enrolled students taking credit awarding classes at the University of Utah. Students may use this software solely for academic non-profit, non-commercial, educational and research purposes. Any other use is strictly prohibited. Students are allowed to install one copy of this software on one personally owned computer. This is an Annual Subscription license which expires at the end of each licensing term. This Student license may be installed on a computer that is personally owned or leased by the purchaser of the software.
A Student license is an annual subscription which means the license will expire at the end of each licensing term. A new annual license must be purchased to continue using the software for each licensing term. Student licenses include maintenance.
A University license is a perpetual license with annual maintenance renewal. Effective 07/01/2016, all Faculty and Staff that have purchased and installed OriginPro software on a computer must purchase a maintenance renewal at the beginning of each new licensing term if the software is still installed on the computer, regardless of how often the software is being used. Maintenance provides you with free upgrades and/or technical support.
Check your OSL order summary to see when the annual license term ended. The date the license term ended is the date that the Maintenance on the license ended. If the Maintenance has expired then the Maintenance on your license is not current.
Yes. Because the university has purchased the perpetual license with annual maintenance renewals.
You can find free downloads listed under Available Downloads and license keys to unlock software under Available Keys & Credentials. The software you can download will depend on your University job or course.
University of Denver has a Campus-Wide License for MATLAB, Simulink, and add-on products. Faculty, researchers, and students may use these products for teaching, research, and learning. The license allows individuals to install the products on university-owned equipment, as well as personally owned computers.
SAS is licensed for the University of Denver and can be used for teaching and research purposes only. Our license does not allow SAS to be used for administrative or "business" purposes. University of Denver departments needing analytical software for administrative purposes should contact Institutional Research and inquire about the use of SPSS.
arivis Vision4D, like many other software packages, uses a licensing system built on a solution provided by a third party and based on software and hardware keys. When starting the software and periodically through the use of it, the licensing system will check for the availability of licenses permitting its use. The license key, as it is called, can be rooted to the specifics of the computer using a so-called "soft" key, or located on a removable USB dongle (hard key). The ability of the software to run is limited by its ability to communicate with those keys. To enable this, certain conditions must be put in place, namely, the licensing system driver must be installed, and the communication ports it uses must be open. This holds whether we are talking about a local license or a network license.
The driver enables the software communication to the license. This communication is done through a specific port (port 1947), which must be open all the way from the client to the server. In the case of local licenses, this is rarely an issue as this port will usually be opened during the driver installation, but in the case of network license and very restrictive IT environments, it may be necessary to set up exceptions to enable communications through that port for the licensing system on any firewall that might stand between the software and the license. The topic of port exceptions has been widely covered elsewhere and is usually managed by IT management teams. If you need to create or check these exceptions yourself, a good starting point can be found here.
This is most likely in a scenario with a network license and multiple users. If your license permits up to 5 users, the sixth person who tries to log on will get this message. In this scenario you should wait for one of the other users to relinquish the license by closing the application. In extreme scenarios where a user fails to relinquish the license for whatever reason, their license can be revoked and the session terminated from the Sentinel Admin Control Center on the license server machine. Double check with all users of the software before taking this step as there may be a valid reason for a user to use a license for several days (e.g. running complicated analysis on a very large dataset).
If your license is Out Of Date it is most likely because you installed a newer version than you are licensed for. This can happen because you installed the current version as part of a trial or maybe because you reinstalled the software using the current installer for whatever reason. If so, please log a support ticket using the link above and a member of the support team will contact you to provide download links for the version your license is valid for. A member of our Sales team may also contact you to discuss upgrade options.
Soft licenses are linked to the specific hardware of the computer on which they are activated. In most cases, the hardware configuration is fairly unlikely to change significantly and so it is a good way to make sure that the license is running on the computer it was activated on to limit unlicensed copying of the license. This article on activating licenses also covers how to transfer the license to another machine. So if you need to transfer your license to a new computer please follow the instructions there. However, it is also possible to activate a software license on a Virtual Machine. But VMs can be copied and transferred to another computer very easily, which is part of their appeal, but so could licenses attached to that machine, which is not allowed by the terms of the license agreement. Therefore, the licensing system has been designed to detect changes to virtual machines that could indicate the VM has been duplicated. If such changes are detected the license will be disabled and it is not possible to restore the license from that point. Please check this article for choosing license configurations if you intend to use Vision4D on virtual machines. If your license has been disabled that way, please log a support ticket using the link at the top of this page and a member of the support team will contact you to discuss options. 2b1af7f3a8
