The ISEE Essay is the fifth and final section of the ISEE lower, middle, and upper level tests. This personal essay is not scored; however, a copy of it is sent to each school to which families send their scores. Students have 30-minutes in which to write up to 2 pages in response to one prompt.
These are very good sample responses, HOWEVER, they are a bit too long. The ISEE only gives you two pages with a limited amount of lines to provide your answer. You are NOT allowed to take more space beyond the two pages provided. The answers above, while very thorough, are unlikely to fit in the official amount of space you will be given even if you write in a super small fashion.
Similarly, it also requires you to follow a proper format and outline to get through the essay writing process. To cope with this tricky assignment, students usually take help from different examples and samples available online.

Ready Writing, a contest for students in grades 3,4,5,6,7 and 8, builds upon those skills and helps students refine their writing abilities. In particular, this contest helps them to learn to write clearly and correctly a paper that is interesting and original.
Contestants are given a choice between two prompts which defines the audience and provides the purpose for writing. Students should be encouraged to analyze the prompts for the purpose of writing, the format, the audience and the point of view. Written by a third grader who is above grade level in reading. Written in a Writer's Workshop style class where students had free choice of writing topics. This was the first page of a multi-page story. This first page took several sessions of writing to complete.
Make sure the student has a plan for how the story will progress and end. Many third grade stories go on forever, lose their focus and then have abrupt endings. Teach the child how to storyboard his main events BEFORE he begins writing. Storyboards can be created by folding a piece of paper into sixths or eighths and then drawing a scene in each rectangular space. This writer loves to draw so the storyboard could be a comic strip-like plan before he begins to write. Storyboards also help students who tend to start off strong but then get writer's block and abandon their stories without finishing them. Here's a downloadable storyboard template (15K PDF) you can use.

When choosing a compare and contrast essay example to include on this list, we considered the structure. A strong compare and contrast essay begins with an introductory paragraph that includes background context and a strong thesis. Next, the body includes paragraphs that explore the similarities and differences. Finally, a concluding paragraph restates the thesis, draws any necessary inferences, and asks any remaining questions.
Thank you so much for this. I did not go to college to become a writing professor, but due to restructuring in my department, I indeed am! This is a wonderful guide that I will use when teaching the narrative essay. I wonder if you have a similar guide for other modes such as descriptive, process, argument, etc.?
An essay outline will help you organize your main ideas and determine the order in which you are going to write about them. In some cases, a decimal outline may allow you to organize your details better. Writing an outline with an alphanumeric structure is another very effective way to think through how you will organize and present the information in your essay. It also helps you develop a strong argumentative essay.
Conclude your essay writing with a summary of the thesis and persuasive arguments. Brainstorming details that support your point-of-view is a great way to start before creating your outline and first draft.
